Goal Setting, Meditation And Coaching - What You Need To Know

Since working as a life/results coach, I have been surprised about the confusion and misconception among clients when it comes to goal setting.

People share with me that they don’t have a proper goal. They don’t recognize their wish to “feel more at peace within themselves” or to “love themselves fully” as a suitable goal to be coached on.

The truth is, your goal can be anything: finding inner peace, changing old habits, exploring a new career path, or discovering what it is you are really meant to be doing.

What could be more deserving of your time and effort than to work toward experiencing inner peace or to truly love yourself?

Personally, these are the goals that have always been close to my heart and have been my reason for immersing myself in yogic meditation practices and sharing yogic techniques with hundreds of people over the last 20 years.

We know that regular meditation practice is priceless. Meditation helps us go beyond the shoulds and find what it is that truly resonates with who we are. But unfortunately, we don’t always act on the insights we receive while meditating.

“Without dreams and goals there is no living, only merely existing, and that is not why we are here.”

―Mark Twain

This is where a coach comes in. A coach helps you hone in on what is meaningful and important to you and supports you in taking action towards it. A coach does this not by telling you what to do but by helping you gain clarity in defining the actions you need to take. A coach holds you accountable pays attention to detail while also keeps track of the bigger picture.

People are often positively surprised when working with a coach for the first time. They find that things start to progress more rapidly and with greater consistency and ease. Instead of taking three steps forward, stalling, going one step back or starting all over again (haven’t we all been there?!) they are able to move steadily toward their goal, one action at a time. The joy and relief is tangible.

Personally, I have always been proud of my independence and self-starter attitude, hence, employing a coach never used to be on my radar, until last year. I think we all have become more acutely aware lately how precious time really is. Progressing slowly, putting things off, or getting sidetracked along the way … well, I don’t know about you, but I’d rather get started and keep going with what brings me joy and fulfilment.

So please remember, no matter what your goal is, wanting to feel more at peace, lose weight so you can fit into your favourite outfit once again or discover what it is you really want to do with your life, a skilled coach will be able to support you in achieving your goals and leave you feeling empowered, more balanced and with a renewed sense of who you are and how to create what it is YOU want or need.

And one more thing, even though coaching is all about YOU this is not a selfish or self-centred process but a way to remove what holds you back and to tap into your hidden strengths, visions and dreams so you can be the marvelous person you are meant to be. Just imagine what you will achieve and create for yourself and others once you know from the depth of your heart that:

“I am okay as I am!” and “I can do this!”
